THE FOUNDATION'S CORE MISSION IS TO PUBLISH LITTLE-KNOWN ASIAN PHOTOGRAPHS
The Photographic Heritage Foundation’s books planned for the coming few years are shown below. The projects all reflect the Foundation’s core mission, of publishing little-known Asian historical photos. Each project is based on collections already pioneered and researched by the Foundation.
For two of the projects, the negatives and materials were located, and also catalogued, by Edward Stokes. The projects are given – from left to right and top to bottom – in the intended order of completion. However, the actual order of publication depends on the timing of raising funds for each project. The project names are working titles only.
Looking farther ahead, in addition to these planned books, the Foundation has also researched – and in some cases catalogued – other important Asian photo collections. These cover Singapore, China, India, Sarawak and Sabah. All unique treasure troves, these collections include tens of thousands of memorable, yet hitherto unseen and unpublished, negatives – dating from the 1930s to the 1950s.
